IIBC NEWSLETTER on how Assort's team learns English

In its August 2020 issue, IIBC NEWSLETTER wrote about Assort: how we train stylists who can look after guests from abroad in English.
What the article is about
It starts with travellers in Japan, who spend more and more on experiences, and some of them now enjoy a cut or a colour at a hair salon. It then looks at Assort, where the team looks after guests in English, and at the English lessons we run for our stylists and assistants.
What it says about our English lessons
The article describes how the lessons ran at that time. Each salon held one a week, shaped to the people in the room: from basic grammar and conversation up to talking about hairstyles. The teacher gave each person an English level, and that level appeared on our website's staff page, which gave the team something to aim for.
It also links the lessons to our salons abroad: after we opened in cities such as New York and Hong Kong, more of our team wanted to work overseas. One of our stylists talks about learning English at work, day to day, with guests.
Our CEO Ken Kobayashi speaks for the company.
