Makoto Iwaya wins Creative Colorist of the Year at the Live Fashion Hair Awards 2026

Makoto Iwaya, a colorist at Assort Amsterdam, has won Creative Colorist of the Year at the Live Fashion Hair Awards — Global Edition 2026, presented on 18 October 2026 in Tenerife, Spain. It is the second time he has won this award.

Makoto first won Creative Colorist of the Year in 2024, as the first Japanese winner of the title, before he joined Assort. This year he was also nominated for Hairdresser of the Year.

Earlier in 2026, on 29 June, he won International Colour Genius at the Colour World Genius Awards in London.

About the Live Fashion Hair Awards

Live Fashion Hair is an international hairdressing event that began in the Canary Islands. Its 2026 Global Edition ran from 17 to 20 October in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife: four days of masterclasses, shows and editorial work, with the award ceremonies on 18 October at Espacio Mutua Tinerfeña. This year the event also held editions in São Paulo and New York.

The Tenerife edition's main sponsor was Booksy, with the collaboration of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Área de Comercio de Tenerife, the Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de La Laguna and ASPEBECAN.
