PREPPY's mini series on salon English for guests from abroad, taught by Assort

In its November 2016 issue, PREPPY, a trend magazine for hair and beauty professionals in Japan, began a three-part mini series in which Assort — in the magazine's words, a salon that many guests from abroad visit — shows practical techniques and English for the salon.
The series
Its title is 「インバウンドに対応!今すぐ使えるサロン英会話&テク」 — salon English and techniques you can use right away, for guests visiting Japan. The magazine opens with the rise in visitors from abroad: so that a salon can look after a guest from abroad who walks in without warning, Assort shares practical techniques and English over three issues.
It asks the reader a question: if no one at your salon speaks English and a guest from abroad suddenly arrives, what would you do? So that nobody needs to panic, Assort's staff, who look after guests from abroad every day, show it with real examples. The lessons come with short films, reached through QR codes on the pages.
The series names our CEO Ken Kobayashi as its teacher. This first part pairs English with styling: an Assort receptionist and a stylist who often look after guests from abroad take the reader through three moments of a visit — the front desk, the consultation and the styling — each with a few short English phrases for that moment, and a list of everyday salon words in English.
The next two parts, in the December 2016 and January 2017 issues, pair English with colour.
The series is in Japanese, in the November 2016 issue of PREPPY. It shows Assort as it was in 2016.
