SHINBIYO interviews our CEO Ken Kobayashi
The January 2020 issue of SHINBIYO, the monthly magazine for hairdressers from the Tokyo publisher Shinbiyo Shuppan, carried a long interview with our CEO Ken Kobayashi in its series 'SHINBIYO INTERVIEW'.
The series
SHINBIYO INTERVIEW picks out hairdressers worth watching. Its opening words say that as values change, the ways hairdressers work and live are becoming more varied, but the heart of the work — making people happy — stays the same; and that by telling one person's life story at a time, the series supports the future of hairdressers.
The interview
The interview asks where the global strength of the Assort brand comes from — a brand built on a base in Japan and aiming for the world — and where it all began. The magazine's profile follows his path: from the United States to a beauty school in Nagoya, then salons in Nagoya and Tokyo, then working freelance, and in 2011 opening Assort in Tokyo together with the people he had hired.
The interview is in Japanese, in the January 2020 issue of SHINBIYO. It shows Assort as it was at the start of 2020.
