Makoto Iwaya wins International Colour Genius at the Colour World Genius Awards 2026
Makoto Iwaya, a colorist at Assort Amsterdam, has won International Colour Genius at the Colour World Genius Awards 2026, presented on 29 June 2026 in London.
The 2026 awards drew more than 450 entries. After judging, 70 finalists were chosen, and the winners of 15 categories were named that evening at Poulet, near London Bridge, in front of 125 guests.
Later in the year, on 18 October, Makoto also won Creative Colorist of the Year at the Live Fashion Hair Awards — Global Edition 2026 in Tenerife, Spain.

The Colour World Genius Awards are held every year by Colour World UK, a London-based platform for hair colour news, inspiration and events, which believes colourists are as important as hairdressers to a salon's success. The awards champion technical excellence in hair colour.
